Putting Your Skills to Work in a Writing & Editing Career: Post Grad (Center) Panel
On December 4 the Office of Career Planning will hold “Post Grad (Center),” its first annual conference on careers. GC students interested in putting their grad-school-honed language skills to work in careers outside of academia will not want to miss the panel on Writing and Editing. Panelists will include:
- Andrew Bast (M.A., Political Science, Graduate Center): Emmy-award winning producer for CBS’s 60 Minutes, who has also written for major publications such as The Washington Quarterly and The New York Times. His previous career includes positions as Senior Editor at Newsweek and Web Editor at Foreign Affairs.
- Jaime Cleland (Ph.D., English, Graduate Center): Senior Editor at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt who works on education products for reading encouragement and intervention at the K-12 level.
- Jackie Glasthal (M.A., Liberal Studies, Graduate Center): Editor of Digital Products at Scholastic Inc. who produces news briefs for elementary and middle school students. Additional publications include Geography Spin, a classroom magazine; and the books Liberty on Twenty Third Street, American History Math, History Comes Alive: The American Revolution, and Quick Math Guide. She has also written for numerous other publications and digital services.
- John Reuland (Ph.D., English, Princeton University): Communications Manager at Taft and Partners, a Public Relations and Communications firm.
- Brea Tremblay (M.A., Liberal Studies, Graduate Center): Head of Editorial at Tribeca Shortlist, a individualized streaming service that provides curated selections of movies with industry insider recommendations. Her previous career includes positions as a Writer, Editor, and Content Manager for several media companies, most recently Assistant Managing Editor at The Daily Beast.
- Robert Wood (Ph.D., Musicology, Graduate Center): Copywriter at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), who has also worked as a freelance writer and editor for the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy.
